Honigman’s Grand Rapids Office Expands with Three HMSC Partners Setting up Shop
Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP announced today that Brett A. Krueger will relocate to the firm’s Grand Rapids office from Detroit. He will continue his work as a partner in the firm’s growing Intellectual Property department and Patent practice group, bolstering the Grand Rapids location, which opened its doors at the beginning of the year.
Honigman partners John D. Pirich and Phillip D. Torrence will also maintain offices in Grand Rapids on a part-time basis, splitting their time between their home offices in Lansing and Kalamazoo, respectively. Pirich, a former Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan, represents clients in governmental relations, while Torrence leads Honigman’s Financial Institutions, Securities and Corporate Governance practice groups.
“We’re delighted that Brett will be joining us in our growing Grand Rapids office,” said Tracy T. Larsen, co-chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions practice and office managing partner of Honigman’s Grand Rapids office. “His extensive skillset and strong book of business makes a perfect addition to the team, which will be further strengthened by John and Phil’s presence here."
Krueger has extensive experience counseling clients on identifying, evaluating, procuring, enforcing and licensing intellectual property rights as well as the avoidance of infringement risks. He counsels clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups and concentrates his practice on patent prosecution and opinions in the areas of: mechanical engineering, robotics, autonomous vehicles and mobile platforms, automation, medical devices, optical devices, software, internet applications, mobile devices, cloud computing, distributed systems (hardware and software), and apparel.
“I’m looking forward to serving my existing and future clients out of western Michigan,” said Krueger. “Honigman’s Grand Rapids office is quickly growing and the varied expertise of my colleagues there will complement my practice.”
Honigman’s Grand Rapids office opened its doors in January 2017 and is led by Larsen, one of the leading M&A transaction attorneys in the Midwest. He serves as both office managing partner as well as co-chair of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions practice.
Krueger earned a J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center, cum laude, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.S., with high honors, in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
