Kalamazoo Nature Center elects Honigman’s Steven J. Rypma to its board of trustees
Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP is pleased to announce that its Partner, Steven J. Rypma, recently was elected to the board of trustees of the Kalamazoo Nature Center. The Center is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire people to care for the environment by providing experiences that lead them to understand their connection to the natural world.
Rypma handles a wide variety of real estate acquisition, disposition, development, leasing and financing transactions. His experience spans a range of sectors and industries, including office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, multifamily and affordable housing. A substantial portion of Rypma’s practice consists of representing local and national developers from concept to completion of complex real estate developments, often involving joint ventures, urban redevelopment and renewal, environmentally challenged sites and economic development incentives. He has significant experience representing institutional holders of real estate and counsels clients in connection with distressed real estate and debt situations. Rypma has been a certified LEED GA (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Green Associate) since 2010. Michigan Super Lawyers has recognized him as Rising Star since 2011.
Rypma earned a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and a B.A., cum laude, in business administration and a B.S. in geology with an environmental emphasis from Hope College.
