Honigman elects eight new partners
Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has elected eight new partners in the firm effective January 1, 2014. Honigman’s new partners are listed below.
Sara J. Brundage practices in Honigman’s Litigation and Insurance Departments and is located in the firm’s Kalamazoo office. She is the leader of the firm’s Insurance Policy Review and Coverage Practice Group. Brundage focuses on complex commercial disputes involving insurance companies and other corporate entities. She also advises clients on drafting and interpreting insurance policy language, analyzing insurance risk and assessing adequate coverage for individual client needs. Brundage earned a J.D., cum laude, from John Marshall Law School and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. She was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers in 2013.
Kimberly A. Dudek practices in Honigman’s Corporate Department and is located in the firm’s Detroit office. She represents public and private companies with respect to corporate governance and general corporate matters; assists clients with mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, private equity transactions and joint ventures; and advises clients regarding secured lending transactions. Dudek earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A., with distinction, from the University of Michigan. She was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers in 2013.
Charles W. Duncan, Jr. practices in Honigman’s Intellectual Property Department and is located in the firm’s Oakland County office. He focuses his practice on patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright and contract litigation. In addition, he counsels clients in a variety of technical areas, including computer hardware, software and telecommunications. Duncan earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A., summa cum laude, in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
Teymour S. El-Tahry practices in Honigman’s Intellectual Property Department and is located in the firm’s Oakland County office. He assists clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups in developing their patent portfolios and related strategies. El-Tahry prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the software, electrical and mechanical arts. He also assists clients in assessing litigation risks associated with existing and upcoming products. El-Tahry earned a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology and a B.S. in computer science from the University of Michigan College of Engineering.
Scott D. Geromette practices in Honigman’s Insurance Department and is located in the firm’s Detroit office. He focuses on the organization and representation of a variety of alternative risk financing arrangements, including captive insurance companies, self-insurance programs, risk purchasing groups, rent-a-captives and risk retention groups. Geromette is particularly experienced in establishing captive insurance companies that become members of one or more of the Federal Home Loan Banks. In addition, he provides clients with reviews and interpretations of insurance policies and analyzes questions of coverage. He also counsels owners/sponsors of alternative risk financing arrangements on legal, regulatory and strategic issues. Geromette earned a J.D., summa cum laude, from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and a B. A., with honors, from Columbia University. He was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers in 2011 and 2012.
Steven J. Migliore practices in Honigman’s Corporate Department and is located in the firm’s Detroit office. He focuses his practice primarily on the representation of private equity and venture capital funds and their portfolio companies. He counsels clients on acquisitions and divestitures; joint ventures; senior and subordinated debt financings; growth equity and venture capital investments; and restructurings. Migliore earned a J.D., cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School and an MBA from Wayne State University. He received a B.A., with high honors, from Michigan State University’s Honors College.
Angela Epolito Sprecher practices in Honigman’s Corporate Department as a member of its Health Care Practice Group. She is located in the firm’s Lansing office. Sprecher focuses her practice on assisting health care and insurance clients with day-to-day federal and state regulatory compliance matters, business transactions, mergers and acquisitions. She also counsels clients on legal issues related to electronic health records and represents providers and health information technology companies in transactions involving information technology, including licensing and hosting agreements. Sprecher earned a J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and a B.A., with honors, from Michigan State University. She was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers in 2012.
Matthew R. VanWasshnova practices in Honigman’s Corporate Department and is located in the firm’s Detroit office. His practice is primarily focused on the representation of private equity funds and their portfolio companies. He also counsels publicly and privately held companies and investors in business formation, corporate restructuring, financing, securities, corporate governance and compliance matters, as well as other general corporate matters. VanWasshnova earned a J.D., cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. He was named a “Rising Star” by Michigan Super Lawyers in 2013.
