Honigman to host seminar on duties of corporate governance and shareholder/partnership disputes
Detroit-based business law firm Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP will host a one-day seminar on recent trends in duties of directors and officers, as well as current issues regarding shareholder and partnership disputes, on Thurs., July 17 at the MGM Grand Detroit. The event is open to the public. Registration is at 7:30 a.m.
"We are looking forward to this important and informative event," said Norman Ankers, a key presenter and Chair of Honigman's litigation department. "Our goal for this forum is twofold: to provide our clients and friends with a fresh and practical look at their leadership responsibilities; and help them avoid the expensive burden of shareholder and limited partner disputes."
The seminar will be presented by three Honigman attorneys: Norman Ankers, Joseph Aviv and Cyril Moscow. Ankers and Aviv, who are both senior partners in the firm's litigation department, and Moscow, a senior partner in the firm's corporate and securities department, collectively possess more than a century’s worth of relevant experience.
Joseph Papelian, Deputy General Counsel – Litigation for Delphi will be the fourth panelist and will share his insight and ideas on each topic.
Changes in corporate governance standards resulting from the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, Securities and Exchange Commission rules, stock market regulations and other issues affecting corporate governance are among some of the topics to be examined. Panelists will also tackle the sometimes-difficult relationship between partners as well as corporate boards and their company’s shareholders. Panelists will discuss the potential damage faced by companies over litigation and how to mitigate the threat.
