I.W. Winsten named Chair of Wayne State University Law School's Board of Visitors
Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP is pleased to announce that I.W. Winsten, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department, has been named chair of Wayne State University Law School’s Board of Visitors (BOV) for a two-year term. The BOV serves as an advisory body to the dean of the law school and its members include many of the schools most prominent graduates. Under Winsten’s direction, the BOV has undertaken a number of new initiatives, including preparation of a new strategic plan for the law school.
Winsten, a 1979 magna cum laude graduate of Wayne State University Law School, is pleased to have the opportunity to serve his alma mater. “I am delighted to help the Board of Visitors enhance the law school's strong reputation and ensure that it provides the same high quality education in the future that has benefited so many in the past, including me.”
An experienced trial attorney, Winsten has successfully obtained several multi-million dollar jury verdicts for his clients. In addition to serving as the BOV chair, Winsten is past chair and current trustee of the Historical Society for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and a past-chair of the State Bar of Michigan’s Pro Bono Involvement Committee.
Winsten has been recognized by numerous organizations, including The Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers, where he was named as one of the top 100 attorneys in Michigan. Winsten has also received the Pro Bono Excellence Award from the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association.
