Deborah Martin is a collaborative and results-driven attorney with over two decades of experience advising biotechnology and life sciences companies on patent strategy and protection. Deborah counsels clients on patent filing strategy and preparation, portfolio reviews, offensive/defensive strategies for patent challenge and litigation, patent licensing, and freedom-to-operate analyses. Her strategic insights have helped organizations ensure patent quality, maximize cost efficiency, and mitigate risks in litigation and patent challenges.
Prior to joining Honigman, Deborah served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at a global biopharmaceutical company, where she led patent strategies for a wide range of therapeutic and manufacturing divisions, including Oncology and Vaccines. She managed a global patent team across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, delivering innovative solutions to protect groundbreaking therapies. Her leadership extended to portfolio development and value realization, strategies for patent validity and enforcement, and guidance for high-stakes acquisitions and licensing agreements.
