Overview

Grace Trueman is the leader of Honigman’s Private Client Practice Group and represents wealthy individuals and families in matters related to tax and estate planning, estate and trust administration, philanthropy, nonprofit governance and compliance, art collections and related issues, federal estate and gift tax controversies, as well as family office management. Grace is a contributing presenter and author for the Institute of Continuing Education in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has had the privilege of holding leadership roles in and volunteering for various community organizations in Southeast Michigan.

  • Prepares customized estate plans to achieve client goals, including sophisticated tax planning, protection for minor children, family business succession planning, and charitable giving
  • Provides sophisticated planning and management counsel to single and multi-family offices
  • Counsels on various aspects of art law, including special issues relating to estate planning, charitable donations, sales, consignment, collection management, insurance, appraisal and valuation issues, and purchases
  • Counsels on creation and management of private foundations and public charities for domestic and foreign charitable activities
  • Advises public charities and private foundations about securing and retaining tax-exempt status, including compliance issues, donations/grants, regulatory issues, and general governance and internal policies
  • Represents clients in tax controversies and examinations relating to federal estate and gift tax
