Overview

Kathryn Wilhoit is an associate in the firm’s Business Litigation department. Kathryn advises on the full spectrum of litigation issues, and has extensive experience litigating breach and bad faith claims arising out of corporate clients’ contractual agreements. Kathryn also routinely counsels clients through all stages of mediation and claim resolution, including negotiating and writing settlement agreements.

Kathryn has served on teams representing:

  • Policyholders bringing breach of contract and bad faith claims against insurers in federal court, seeking recovery for long-tail environmental liabilities under CGL and pollution legal liability policies
  • Airline industry clients pursuing protests against state and local agencies regarding the award of multi-million dollar government contracts
  • Financial institutions alleging breaches of obligations owed to policyholders under E&O liability policies
  • Real estate groups defending against claims alleging breaches of contract and related duties arising out of lease and asset transfer agreements
  • A food-manufacturing industry client seeking indemnification under a representations and warranties insurance agreement related to the transfer of company assets

During law school, Kathryn completed training and state certification to serve as a mediator for members of the community in need of legal aid. In this role, she facilitated resolutions amongst parties subject to court-ordered mediation concerning family law disputes. Presently, Kathryn remains involved in her community, including by serving as a junior board member for the Alzheimer’s Association of Illinois.
