Overview
Honigman’s Automotive and Manufacturing practice group includes lawyers with decades of experience representing original equipment manufacturers (OEM), Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, and automotive aftermarket companies. The team brings a holistic and strategic perspective to representing companies in this sector, applying overall industry knowledge and depth of experience to assist clients in meeting their legal challenges and business objectives. Our lawyers are active with various industry and professional associations and routinely update automotive executives on relevant trends and developments impacting the industry.
Unique Perspective
Honigman has represented dozens, if not hundreds, of automotive companies in a multitude of different practice areas, including some of the world’s largest OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. For many of these companies, we are their primary outside counsel and have been advising them on a day-to-day basis for years. We represent clients in all areas of the automotive industry – from large, public OEMs dealing with their supply base to small, private tooling manufacturers to new, startup ventures focused on emerging technology – and are one of the most active law firms globally in the industry. This breadth of sustained experience provides us with unique insight and perspective into the industry compared to our peers.
Many of our attorneys have worked in-house with major automotive corporations, and several of our intellectual property lawyers and professionals have also served as engineers with automotive and manufacturing companies. Our team is able to apply this unique combination of perspectives gained from key in-house roles and as outside advisors to craft actionable, value-added solutions.
Strategic Thinking, Practical Solutions, and Teamwork
Business leaders and decision makers come to Honigman for guidance within a framework of practical, cost-effective solutions. We produce specific and actionable strategies and assist in their implementation in concert with the client’s legal staff and management.
Honigman brings a valuable business and legal perspective since we have advised major OEMs, Tier 1 and 2 suppliers, and automotive aftermarket companies on some of their most important and challenging issues. Our lawyers have developed precedent-setting approaches to industry-wide processes and workflow structures, while helping to create efficiencies in more routine situations. We can apply a specific skill set to a discrete issue or matter or marshal a cross-functional team to implement solutions that support our client’s goals.
Global Experience and Capabilities
Honigman has specific experience representing non-U.S. based automotive businesses on various aspects of their North American operations and U.S. based automotive businesses dealing with counterparties around the globe. We are located in the heart and nerve center of the North American automotive industry, and are able to assemble a diverse and broad-based team that encompasses capabilities and experience in the relevant practice areas that a supplier or manufacturer might require. Our team prides itself on crafting practical solutions for specific client situations, solutions whose roots can be traced to creative, precedent-setting thinking contained in our knowledge center and developed through decades of representing clients during industry-transforming events.
