Honigman represents Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in acquisition of Rhode Island resort

Honigman LLP recently represented Pebblebrook Hotel Trust in its acquisition of Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina in Newport, Rhode Island for $174 million.

The 10-acre waterside resort on Goat Island in Newport, RI, has 360-degree views of the Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor and features 257 guest rooms, including 18 suites and 80,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. The resort also has a 3,000-square-foot spa, a 3,200-square-foot waterside pavilion, and an indoor and outdoor pool with cabanas. Pebblebrook has the right to purchase the marina, including 22 boats, in 2027. The resort will become part of Curator Hotel & Resort Collection, a collection of small brands and independent-lifestyle hotels and resorts created by Pebblebrook.

Honigman’s deal team was led by J. Adam Rothstein (Co-Chair of Real Estate Department) and supported by Angela Williams (Partner), Karen Pifer (Partner), Rachel Hofstatter (Partner) and Joanne Fisher (Paralegal).

In May, Honigman also represented Pebblebrook on its $156 million acquisition of the Inn on Fifth in Naples, FL. The AAA Four Diamond luxury resort property includes 119 guestrooms across two buildings (the Main and Club Level buildings), including 43 spacious suites.
